Well, fall showed up. It’s 55 degrees at 8:30 with fog sitting low and the ground soaked. We caught 0.73 inches overnight, and the lightning counter logged 6 strikes, the last around 4:30 this morning. The barometer’s been sliding too, from 30.11 down to 29.91 over the last twelve hours, which is what you see when a genuine system moves through and soaks the whole morning.

I’m reading this one mostly off my own station, so here’s my honest call for the next few days.

Today. Cool and wet. More clouds and on-and-off showers as the low slides through, maybe a rumble of thunder. With the sun shut out, I doubt we climb far past the upper 60s. Keep the rain jacket handy and don’t trust a dry-looking hour to hold.

Tonight. Showers wind down as the system pulls east, though it stays cloudy and damp. Low around 50, mild for the date with all that cloud.

Wednesday. The clearing starts. Behind the system I’d look for more sun by afternoon and a warm-up into the low-to-mid 70s, with just a slight chance of a leftover morning shower. It’ll feel a lot better than today.

Wednesday night. Clear and cooler, a proper crisp fall night. Low in the mid-40s, so grab a jacket if you’re out late.

That’s the shape of it: one cool, soggy day, then a steady climb back to pleasant. After the summer we had, I’ll take it.
