Storms today, and wetter on Sunday
Warm and sticky first thing, 81 on the station at 7:30 with the dew point sitting near 53. And it’s been an active night out there: my lightning counter already shows 7 strikes, the nearest about 15 miles off. Plenty of storm energy moving around us. The cells have been staying just out of reach.
Today. The NWS gives us a 40 percent shot at showers and storms after 11, with building clouds and a hot high near 97. That fits what the station’s showing: enough moisture in the air, and by afternoon enough heat to set something off. Watch the Rim after lunch and have a plan to get inside if one builds our way. The odds climb to about 50 percent overnight, with a muggy low near 71.
Sunday. Wetter. The NWS bumps it to 60 percent and keeps the storms coming on and off through the day, with a cooler high near 92 under heavier cloud. Best bet for anything outdoors is the morning, then let the afternoon do its thing. Sunday night stays damp, low near 67.
So it’s a proper monsoon weekend, warm and humid, with storms in play each afternoon and Sunday the wetter of the two. If today follows the pattern, the first towers should start stacking over the Rim not long after lunch.
Written just after 7:30, thunder already in the record. I’ll check tomorrow on what actually landed here.
